To whom it may concern:
I am seeking opportunities in the computer software industry. My interests range from cyber-security, distributed systems, networking, and operating systems. I am particularly excited about team-based efforts that make use of my previous experiences while expanding my knowledge and understanding of computer systems.
I am currently a research scientist in Computer Science at Yale University, where I lead Dissent, a DARPA funded project focused on privacy and anonymous communication. I am also involved in cloud reliability and the use of structural analysis to help identify and eliminate potential failures before they occur. Prior to joining Yale, I obtained a doctorate in Computer Engineering at the University of Florida. There, I led projects on decentralized virtual networking and distributed grid computing with resources distributed globally incorporating hundreds of users that consumed nearly a million compute hours. In total, my efforts have resulted in 43 publications and 6 open source projects with two totaling over 30,000 lines of code.
I have taken projects from the design stages to deployment. I employ a test-driven / modular approach to software development that eliminates most bugs prior to deployment and incorporates useful but modest interfaces that enables collaboration. I have worked with teams varying from 2 to 7 individuals and have a proven track record of completing projects on time.
I have significant experience in programming with C++, C#, and Python, writing well over 10,000 lines of code in each language. Within the Dissent project, I developed a deep understanding about security and cryptography, both at the theoretical and implementation level. In the virtual networking project, I built a layer 2 and 3 networking stack and addressed many challenges common with deploying applications across the Internet and other unreliable networks. In most of my projects, testing code often times consumes just as many lines of code as the program or library itself.
